Twitter Race – Why Ashton Did It – The Power of Social Media

So, this weekend, I discussed with some new friends why Ashton Kutcher’s CNN Twitter race was significant. Not only did it represent an excellent use of social media (the pretty boy prankster really does understand how to link together different social media channels to create consistent messaging). But, it also – as the actor pointed out – says something about our society that more people are following his updates than an international news network.

Below is a vid of Ashton talking about this whole thing on Oprah. I’d suggest starting at the 3:50 mark to avoid hearing Oprah drone on about discussing Twitter with her doorman.

What Ashton has to say is actually very interesting. (And, yes I fully expect to be struck by lightening for uttering such a phrase!)
