After paying $580mm just six years ago for the dying social network, MySpace, News Corp. said it would take no less than $100mm for the site today. Unfortunately for them, it looks like even that would be too high.
According to All Things D, there is only one party interested in the deal is the gaming giant Activision. But, even they only want about 80 percent of the company and although the actual dollar figure they’ve presented has not been made public, speculations are that is nowhere near the $100mm Rupert Murdoch was hoping for.
Although I’m not sure anyone can ever return MySpace to its former glory, the Activision acquisition could be interesting should the site be transformed into the center for gaming enthusiasts.
Let me know what you think.
